μνήσῃ ἐμεῖ…
remember me…,
Homer, θ Rhapsody (verses 460-462)
This legendary luxury resort, built in 1972 by a Swiss Company, has undergone a complete renovation in the year 2008. It recalls the magnificence of yesterday, with amenities and services customized for today. This intimate resort is where tradition and renewal have been so skillfully blended, to reflect the elegance and hospitality of Corfu.
From Odysseus and Nausicaa to Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany and Sissy of Austria this magnificent bay has always been the pure relaxation spot of Corfu.
In a 110.000 square meters area, the resort features panoramic vistas of the sea and the majestic sunsets of the Mediterranean Sea. It is truly one of the most romantic spots of the Mediterranean amid lush gardens. Grand Mediterraneo cascades along breathtaking cliffs and down to Ermones Bay, in a series of intimate terraces, shaded by beautiful cypress trees, eucalyptus trees and pine woods. 80 percent of the rooms offer a sea view.
According to the legend, Odysseus hit by the fury of Poseidon, during his trip to Ithaca, was washed up here, in the bay of Ermones, where he was found by Nausicaa, the daughter of King Alkinous of the Phaeacians (the ancient inhabitants of Corfu). Odysseus received unprecedented hospitality.
After a short stay, Odysseus was about to continue his trip back home to Ithaca, when Nausicaa told him: “remember me…, remember our hospitality…”
